Windsor Park Lakes, Houston, Texas

Camillo Court, Windsor Park Lakes, Houston, Texas

A Mediterranean style home in the Houston neighborhood of Windsor Park Lakes features spacious rooms with soaring ceilings, a three-car garage, and a private deck built over the adjacent lake.

The house is entered through a grand double door composed of dark wood with large decorative windowpanes on top. The windows feature an intricate scroll-like design incorporating textured, beveled and lead glass, which assures privacy while allowing natural light into the foyer. A large, arched, mullioned window above the doors brings in more Houston sunshine, bathing the foyer in the natural light beloved of interior designers. The foyer features a vaulted tray ceiling in shades of white and cream, with white crown molding. A fourteen-light chandelier with frosted glass, fluted shades is suspended from the ceiling. The flooring is white porcelain tile trimmed with rich russet tiles. A tile medallion is worked into the center of the floor. The walls are cream colored with white baseboards and white trim.

Arched cased doorways open to the left and right of the foyer. The doorway on the right leads to the living room. This room has cream-colored walls with white baseboards and white trim. The floor is covered with a cream-colored carpet that closely matches the wall color. A large double window on one wall overlooks the side yard. There is a large triple window with an arched window above it on another wall. These windows overlook the front lawn. The tray ceiling is white. There is no overhead lighting in this room, but there are ample electrical outlets for lamps. With its neutral color palette and abundant natural light, this room is compatible with many design styles, allowing an interior designer to create a formal room or a comfortable, relaxed space.

The next doorway on the right is framed by architectural molding that features large pilasters on either side of white, double French doors, and a decorative arched header above the doors. The pilasters are the same cream color as the walls, with wide, white baseboards across the bottom. The header is trimmed with wide, white crown molding that extends across the tops of the pilasters. This doorway leads to the home office.

Directly across from the home office, a white door opens to a half-bath with white tile flooring, cream-colored walls with white baseboards, and a white ceiling. A beveled mirror in a geometric shape is mounted above the white pedestal sink. A two-light vanity light with frosted glass shades is above the mirror. An interior designer might suggest adding artwork on one of the walls and a small plant in a corner to add a splash of color and vibrancy to the room.

The next doorway on the left is an arched, cased doorway that leads to the kitchen. The white tile floor from the foyer is continued in the kitchen and matched by the white tile backsplash. The walls are cream colored with white baseboards. The ceiling is white and has recessed eyeball spotlights installed. The wood cabinetry is stained in a mahogany shade, and the hardware is black. Countertops are cream-colored granite with black flecks. The double undermount sink is stainless steel, and the faucet has a high arc spout and a contemporary open body design that adds an artistic flair to the kitchen. Appliances are stainless steel and include a refrigerator, gas cooktop, wall mounted oven, and dishwasher. The work island is octagonal in shape with mahogany stained cupboards and drawers, and a countertop of cream granite with black flecks. A pass-through window to the living room has a thin granite countertop that matches the kitchen countertops. The classic granite countertops, neutral color palette and open floorplan of the kitchen allow an interior designer to choose from many compatible design styles. A short hallway near the oven leads to a pantry on the left, a storage closet straight ahead, and the garage on the right. The open floor plan in this part of the house allows the kitchen to flow naturally into the dining room. Between the kitchen and dining room, a door opens to the laundry room.

The light and airy dining room has cream-colored walls with white baseboards, a white ceiling with white crown molding, and a white tile floor. The doors and window trim are all white. The room features a large bow window overlooking a covered patio. A five-arm chandelier with frosted glass fluted shades is suspended over the center of the room. One wall contains a mahogany-stained, built-in buffet with a cream-colored, black-flecked granite countertop, and drawers and cupboards below. A mahogany-stained cabinet above the buffet features glass-fronted cupboards. The buffet has an area for a chair, making it suitable for use as a desk as well as a food service area. A wooden door near the buffet hides a storage closet, while an exterior door with a large glass window provides access to the outdoor covered patio.

The open floorplan flows from the dining room into a light-filled family room. This room also features a large bow window overlooking the backyard. The walls are cream-colored with white baseboards, the floor is white tile, and the ceiling is white with white crown molding and recessed eyeball spotlights installed. One wall features a cream-colored granite tile fireplace with black flecking and a floor hearth of the same granite tile. The wooden fireplace surround is white with fluted pilasters, bullseye ornamental molding on the capitals, and a narrow, tiered mantel. The wall around and above the fireplace is covered with striking tumbled travertine tiles. The corner next to the fireplace has a white-painted, built-in cabinet with glass fronted cupboards below that can hold game consoles, as well as Wi-Fi and video equipment. The middle section is designed to hold a large screen television. The top of the cabinet features niches for displaying artwork. A half-wall that divides the kitchen and family room is covered with the same tumbled travertine tiles as the fireplace wall. An arched, cased doorway near the fireplace leads from the family room to the primary suite. The neutral color palette, large windows, and natural materials in the family room make it compatible with many interior design styles.

From the arched doorway, a white door on the left opens to the master bedroom. This large, light-filled room has cream-colored walls with white baseboards, plush beige carpet, and a white tray ceiling with white crown molding, recessed lighting, and a five-blade ceiling fan with attached light fixture. A large bow window takes up one wall. The room is large enough to accommodate a king-sized bed as well as a seating area. An arched wall enhances the double doors that open to the ensuite bathroom.

The ensuite bathroom features shiny white tile flooring, cream-colored walls, and a white ceiling with recessed lighting. A long, mahogany-stained wood vanity takes up one wall. It has a cream-colored countertop with black flecking, and two ovals, undermount sinks separated by a large, arched, frosted glass window. Large, square, frameless mirrors are mounted above the sinks, and matching double vanity sconces with frosted glass fluted shades are mounted above the mirrors. Across from this vanity is a smaller matching makeup vanity with an opening to hold a chair or bench, and a cream-colored granite countertop with black flecking that does not contain a sink. A large, frameless, rectangular mirror is mounted horizontally above this vanity, and a triple vanity light with frosted fluted shades is mounted above the mirror. A door to the right of the smaller vanity hides the water closet containing the toilet. A door to the left of the smaller vanity opens to a large walk-in closet. On the other side of the closet door, a metal framed, clear glass shower enclosure features white tile walls with mosaic detailing in shades of brown, a mosaic tile floor, and a cream-colored, black flecked granite bench. Across from the shower enclosure, a soaking tub mounted in a brown mosaic tiled surround is nestled in a corner below a glass block window. An interior designer might add rugs in rich earth tones, rattan baskets holding towels made from natural fibers, and potted plants to the bathroom.

The second floor of the house is accessed from the foyer via a sweeping, curved staircase. The staircase features a rich, polished wood curtail step, volute newel posts and handrail. The treads and risers are covered in plush, neutral colored carpet. The balusters are ornately scrolled cast iron. The newel posts, balusters and handrail are continued as a safety railing across the open landing at the top of the staircase.

Following the railing to the left at the top of the staircase brings one to Secondary Bedroom #1 which has cream-colored walls with white baseboards, plush beige carpeting, and a white ceiling with a modern round light fixture. A large window on one wall overlooks the front lawn. Opposite the window, an arched, cased doorway leads to a short hallway with white tile flooring, cream-colored walls with white baseboards, a white ceiling with a modern round light fixture, and two white doors opposite each other that open closets on both sides of the hall. The hall flows into a dressing room containing a mahogany-stained wood vanity with black hardware and a creamy granite countertop and backsplash with heavy black flecking. A round, white undermount sink is accented with a dark bronze faucet. Above the vanity, a frameless, rectangular mirror is mounted horizontally. Above the mirror, a three-light vanity light made of dark bronze metal with graceful curves embellished with bronze leaves has frosted glass fluted shades. A white door on the wall opposite the vanity hides a linen closet.

A white door leads from the dressing room to a bathroom that is shared with another bedroom and can also be accessed from a common hallway. The bathroom contains a toilet and a bathtub/shower combination. The walls are cream colored with white baseboards, the ceiling is white with a modern round light fixture, the bathtub/shower walls are natural stone tile, and the flooring is white tile. This is a small bathroom in neutral shades that can be enhanced by an interior designer with the addition of an art print on the wall and a small jute or colorful natural textile mat in front of the bathtub.

A second white door leads from the bathroom to a room nearly identical to the dressing room on the other side of the bathroom. This room has cream-colored walls with white baseboards, white tile flooring, and a white ceiling. The vanity is mahogany stained wood with a heavily flecked, cream granite countertop, a round porcelain undermount sink, and dark bronze hardware. An unframed mirror is hung horizontally above the vanity, and a three-light vanity light with dark bronze metal leaf embellishments and frosted glass fluted shades is mounted above the mirror. There is a mahogany stained wood medicine cabinet built into the wall to the right of the sink. A door opposite the vanity opens to a hallway. A door to the right of the vanity leads to Secondary Bedroom #2.

The secondary Bedroom #2 is a large room with plush beige carpeting, cream-colored walls with white baseboards, and a white ceiling with a modern round light fixture. A window on one wall overlooks the side yard. A white framed glass door allows access to a long balcony on the back of the house that overlooks the backyard and the lake with its private deck. The wall opposite the balcony door has two white doors that open to a long closet. This room with its neutral color palette, unusual corners and niches, and balcony access would be a fun project for an interior designer. The main entrance to this bedroom is through a door at the end of a hallway running straight back from the top of the stairs.

Exiting Secondary Bedroom #2 through the primary door, one walks past a door to the bathroom on the right and, just before reaching the top of the staircase, a wide, arched, cased doorway leads to the game room. This large room has plush beige carpeting, cream-colored walls with white baseboards, and a white tray ceiling with a five-blade ceiling fan/light fixture combination centered over the room. A picture window on one wall overlooks the long balcony that runs along the back of the house. A white framed glass door to the left of the picture window provides access to the balcony. The glass door and the picture window allow an abundance of Houston’s sparkling sunlight to enter the game room and, along with the neutral color palette, makes the room compatible with many interior design styles.

Adjacent to the game room via a second wide, arched, cased doorway is a media room. This room has plush beige carpeting, cream-colored walls with white baseboards, and a white tray ceiling with a light urn pendant light suspended by a chain over the center of the room. The focal point of the media room is the large bow window overlooking the balcony and the lake beyond. If a game room and media room are not needed, an interior designer could convert these two rooms to a family room and a study, or other rooms that meet the needs of the homeowner.

On the opposite end of the game room from the media room, a small hall terminates at three doors. The door on the left hides a storage closet. The door straight ahead opens to a bathroom with cream-colored walls, white baseboards, a white tile floor, and a white ceiling. A small, mahogany stained wood vanity has a cream-colored granite countertop and backsplash with black flecking and a round undermount sink. Vanity and sink hardware are dark bronze metal. A small, square mirror hangs above the vanity, with a three-light vanity light of dark bronze metal with leaf embellishments and frosted glass fluted shades mounted above it. The toilet sits between the vanity and the shower/bathtub combination. The walls of the shower are pale tan natural stone tiles with a decorative line of small, rectangular mosaic tile that runs across the three walls about two feet below the ceiling. The shower head and bathtub faucet are both dark bronze. A small, mahogany stained wood medicine cabinet is built into the wall to the left of the vanity.

The door to the right at the end of the hallway opens to Secondary Bedroom #3. This room has cream-colored walls with white baseboards, a white ceiling with a modern, round light fixture, plush beige carpeting, and a small walk-in closet. A window on one wall overlooks the side of the house. There is a pleasing curve to one wall caused by the protruding curve of the staircase on the other side of the wall.
