Memorial Forest - Houston, TX

Memorial Forest is an affluent community in the Memorial super neighborhood of west Houston. Most homes in the area were built for families in the 1950s, with large yards and plenty of bedrooms. Homes in the neighborhood have an average of four bedrooms. Both new builds and renovations and repairs to existing buildings are held to stringent standards by Memorial Forest’s Architectural Committee to make sure they will seamlessly blend in with the rest of the community.

There are no schools located within Memorial Forest. The neighborhood is served by the Spring Branch Independent School District, with public schoolchildren being zoned to Bunker Hill or Frostwood Elementary Schools, Memorial or Spring Branch Middle Schools, and Memorial High School or Westchester Academy for International Studies which serves grades 6-12. There are also private schools available in the near vicinity.

Shopping is easily accessible from Memorial Forest. Memorial City Mall lies on the north end of the neighborhood offering a variety of shops and boutiques, dining and services. City Centre and The Galleria are also within easy driving distance.

There are many choices for dining out. You can find nearby restaurants that serve Italian cuisine, seafood, pub-type food, Mexican food and barbecue among many other choices. Some local favorites include Credence, a lounge-type restaurant serving New American food, Dao’n which serves modern Korean dishes, Latuli which offers seafood with Southern influences, Casetta Cucina, a small Italian market offering fresh pasta and sauces, and By Popular Demand, a gastropub/whiskey bar.

Entertainment opportunities abound in the area, with easy access to Broadway shows, museums, movie theaters, escape rooms, hiking and biking trails, parks, sports and exercise, and just about any other form of entertainment you can think of. Within the Memorial Forest neighborhood, swimming and court sports are available with a membership at Memorial Forest Club. Sports offered include tennis, pickleball, volleyball and basketball. Three swimming pools, a leisure pool, a lap pool and a kiddy wading pool, supply all your swimming needs. For competitive 4-18 year-olds, the Killer Whales swim team offers competition along with teamwork, friendships and fun.
