Sweetwater – Sugar Land, Texas

 

Sweetwater is a golf course community located in Fort Bend County, west of downtown Houston in the Sugar Land area. It is one of the earliest First Colony master-planned communities. There are approximately 570 households in Sweetwater with a median market value is $1,117,726.

Sweetwater is governed by the First Colony Community Association. It was established in the 1980s around the Sweetwater Country Club's two, 18-hole golf courses. Country Club amenities also include tennis courts and swimming facilities. Residents also have access to First Colony Community Association amenities which include ten community swimming pools, a water park, several lakes and multiple neighborhood parks.

The Sweetwater community falls within the purview of Fort Bend Independent School District. Students are zoned to Commonwealth, Colony Bend, or Settlers Way Elementary Schools, Fort Settlement Middle School, and Clements High School. The nearest public libraries to the Sweetwater community are First Colony Branch of Fort Bend County Libraries, and University Branch of Fort Bend County Libraries.

Shopping and entertainment options near Sweetwater include Sugar Land Town Square and First Colony Mall for shopping and dining opportunities, Whole Foods and AMC Theater.

Nearby Constellation Field is a minor league baseball venue, home of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys which is the Houston Astros' Triple A affiliate team. The stadium has a seating capacity of 7,500.

Not far outside the boundaries of Sweetwater is Sugar Land Memorial Park. The 150 acre park along the Brazos River features a Veterans Memorial, hiking trails, mountain biking paths, pavilions, a recreation lake and a playground. Next door to the park is Pawm Springs Dog Park, six acres of land containing an obstacle course, a lake and lots of running space for your four-legged family members.
