Benders Landing, Spring Texas

 

Benders Landing is a suburb of Houston located in the Census Designated Place (CDP) of Spring, Texas. Spring is the name given to a large area that encompasses parts of both Harris and Montgomery Counties. The town of Spring is in Harris County; Benders Landing is in southern Montgomery County. Both are within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Houston.

In 2014, Exxon Mobil constructed their new headquarters building on 385 wooded acres in Spring, Texas. The building is not only state of the art, but also incorporates the latest techniques of sustainability and energy efficiency. Exxon employs thousands of workers at their headquarters campus.

Benders Landing was developed to coexist with the natural features of the area. Lot sizes are generally an acre or larger and are wooded. Many of the trees are old magnolias which can live for 80-120 years and grow to be 50-90 feet tall. Lakes and ponds that serve as water retention areas are also available for non-motorized boating and catch and release fishing.

Conroe Independent School District serves Benders Landing. Schools to which students may be zoned include Hines Elementary School, Clark Intermediate School, York Junior High School, and Grand Oaks High School.

The nearest shopping areas to Benders Landing are Old Town Spring for boutique shops and cafes, and The Woodlands where you can shop and dine on Market Street and at Woodlands Mall.

There are many options for entertainment in Benders Landing, beginning with the Community Clubhouse at Benders Landing Estates, with its upscale swimming pool and splash pad. There are also private stocked lakes and private trails that wander around the lakes and through the woods for hiking, jogging and biking. Liberty Park offers playground equipment, a pavilion, lighted tennis and basketball courts, and a stocked lake for catch and release fishing. Liberty Park is for the exclusive use of Benders Landing residents and their guests.

There are public parks and trails in the area outside the Benders Landing subdivisions. Pundt Park is located on Spring Creek Drive in Spring. The 380 acre park offers two lakes, a canoe launch, picnic tables, pavilions and both walking and equestrian trails. Dennis Johnston Park is located on Riley Fuzzel Rd. in Spring. It spans 45 acres and offers a small pond, walking trails, a pergola, picnic tables, a pavilion, and butterfly and hummingbird gardens. Pundt Park, Dennis Johnston Park and others are connected by Spring Creek Greenway, a paved hiking and biking trail.

Several golf courses are within easy reach of Benders Landing. Tournament Course at The Woodlands Country Club is probably the most popular, followed closely by Panther Trail.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown in Spring is a family-friendly water park that offers fun for all ages. For those looking for more sedate entertainment, look no further than the 24 screens at Regal Benders Landing movie theater. Old Town Spring offers several festivals and special events throughout the year.
